Diegetic sound: is any sound that originates from sources within the films world
-voices of characters
- sounds made by objects in the story
- music that the characters have control over e.g. instruments and radio.
No diegetic is sound that is not part of the film world.
- Narrators commentary
- sound effect added for dramatic effect
- mood music
Editing
Editing refers to how shots are put together to make up a fil. There are a number of editing techniques that film- makers can use to convey space and time in the films narrative
- cuts
- dissolves and fades
- montage
A cut is the splitting of two hots together. Between sequences the cut marks a rapid transition between one time and pace and another, but depending on the nature of the cut it will have different meaning
